“I had a most wonderful evening…simply divine. I attended a concert given by The Three Nasr Sisters (Ariana Sahara, Kamila accompanied by Ken Shorley) at the Festival Theatre in Wolfville What an evening! The musicians performed music from different parts of the world: India, Afghanistan, China, etc. Sahara sang one particular song from India. Difficult to describe…music that was meditative, serene, as well as poignant. I don’t know if she was singing in Hindi, but the music was so beautiful and stirred me so much that I felt I could almost understand the words. That miracle never happened, but the feeling of almost being able to understand was so strong. I wish I knew where that feeling comes from. It was the same when Ariana sang songs connected to Afghanistan. Arabian music is mystical as well, soulful and passionate—haunting might be a better word. I returned home contented and happy.”
